Automated labeling systems are a game changing upgrade in comparison to a manual labeling process; but even an automated system comes second to its better half — well-organized label storage and label design software like Teklynx’ Codesoft.
CCS saw this first-hand a few weeks ago when we teamed up with a client who produces prepared meals. Over the past few months their company has grown and they were interested in switching from their hand labeling process to an automated labeling system in order to keep up with demand. After reviewing our client’s application, we determined that an off-the-shelf labeling system could not only meet their needs, but exceed them. The client agreed that the machine’s benefits had a significant ROI which prompted them to order the system immediately.
Amazing, right? Yes! We thought so, too!
In our thorough review, however, we also took a look at the client’s labels, along with the methods for printing those labels, and the software they used to print their variable data. After our examination, we learned that the client’s current process consisted of collecting ingredients from one system, nutrition facts from another system, and merging that data into a graphical design platform to create a PDF file that they could then print to a Zebra printer…
This process worked, but it required multiple employees working together daily to create the necessary output.
Once we learned their process and understood the desired result, we were able to streamline this entire process with a single Excel file. This file allowed us to make a few simple changes and transform their process into a fast, efficient, streamlined operation.
As soon as this process was in place, we were able to design a single label format that replaced hundreds of static designs. The conversion worked so well that they deployed this method for use before their new labeling system had even arrived.
The ultimate accomplishment for us is marrying the Teklynx’ Codesoft software to the new labeling system for a complete, streamlined solution. This is an example of what we strive to do on a daily basis, which is to bring people, ideas, and technology together.
